MISSION

In today’s world, companies in Turkey, in order to minimize effects of economical crises appearing around the world, should give importance of the studies of R&D, P&D studies, technological and economical product and production systems design and then include innovative and information intense products into their portfolio. To the extent that our companies are be able to develop distinctive designs and to brandize these, they shall internationally gain competitive power. Making difference on basis of company shall firstly subject to design. Design became an essential element for every field. While about 70 % of price of a product is being set at the stage of design, it doesn’t exceed 2-10 % the share specified for production design stage. Thus our companies need to attach more importance to product design, considering design process together with production process and following up a systematic method, need to design producible products and need to bring in highly added goods and products both to company and our state. In this regard, Industrial Design Engineers, who shall be able to take charge especially in projects requiring interdisciplinary studies and assume Project Engineering if required, who are suitable for team work, who have basic engineering and industry knowledge, who shall be able to keep up with technology and constantly renovate herself/himself, who could make synthesis and analysis, shall be always required. In order to develop industry in our country , to place in our companies a sustainable R&D culture, in order for our country’s companies to adapt to deteriorated competition conditions, our department’s mission is basically comprised of to train Industrial Design Engineers, who are able to develop unique designs, who shall be able to take charge in interdisciplinary projects, whose practical and theoretic knowledge are solidified, who shall readily adapt to industry, who have a full self-confidence both in social and professional environment.

VISION

Industrial Design Engineering, due to the fact that in its field, the first department to be founded under title of Engineering Faculty in our country, shall serve as a bridge between the fields Engineering and Industrial Design Our department intends to be a leading entity in education and research areas for Industrial Design Engineering. Also it aims at, along with both country-wide and international educational and project cooperation, generating graduates who are well qualified and are able to compete with the world. Under laboratory and academic staff infrastructure studies of our department, in the field of Industrial Design and Industrial Design Engineering, negotiations made with leading university and institutions resident both in Turkey and Europe and a variety of collaboration were extended. It shall be enabled to execute simultaneously theoretic and practical experience in conjunction with Industrial Design Center for KOSB ( Kayseri Organized Industry).
